Refund and Cancellation Policy

In accordance with California law, and to protect both you and myself, below is the Legally Enforceable Refund and Cancellation Policy:

Refund and Cancellation Policy Legal Disclaimer:

Applicability

This policy applies to all training services offered through Sonia's Pawsitive Dog Training, including private lessons, group classes, online courses, board-and-train programs, and all other services and packages offered.

Conspicuous Posting

In accordance with California Civil Code § 1723 and related consumer protection laws, this policy is plainly displayed on our website and at all points of sale or booking.
 

Refund Processing

All refunds must be requested in writing (text or email).

Approved refunds will be processed within 30 days of cancellation. Refunds are issued via the original payment method unless otherwise agreed. 

Refunds, Rescheduling & Cancellations

Because we reserve your time and often turn away other clients once your spot is booked, the fees and deposit policies outlined below reflect a fair and reasonable estimate of preparation and lost opportunities. All forfeited deposits are treated as liquidated damages, not a penalty.

Single Session Training Packages:

Payment:

The full session fee is required as a deposit to secure your spot. 

Cancellation:

  • If canceled 72 hours or more before the scheduled session, you may receive a refund of the session cost paid, less a 25% fee.

  • If canceled with less than 72 hours’ notice, no refund will be issued.

Rescheduling:

  • One complimentary reschedule is permitted if requested 72 hours or more in advance.

  • Reschedule requests made with less than 72 hours’ notice may incur a reschedule fee of 25% of the session cost, or be treated as a cancellation.
     

Multiple Session Training Packages:

Deposit & Payment:

A deposit is required to secure your package, which will be applied toward the first session. The remaining balance is due at or before the first scheduled session.

Cancellation (before first session):

  • If canceled 72 hours or more before the first session, the deposit and balance paid towards the package may be refunded, less a 25% fee.

  • If canceled with less than 72 hours’ notice before the first session, the deposit is forfeited. Any balance already paid beyond the deposit may be refunded, less a 10% fee.

Cancellation (after training begins):

  • Once the first session has taken place, the package is considered “in use.” No refunds will be issued for unused sessions.

Rescheduling Individual Sessions within a Package:

  • One complimentary reschedule is permitted if requested 72 hours or more in advance.

  • Sessions canceled or rescheduled with less than 72 hours’ notice are forfeited.

Boarding, Daycare or Board & Train Packages:

Deposit & Payment:

  • A deposit is required to secure your dates.

  • The deposit amount will be included in your booking quote and is applied toward the total service cost.

  • The remaining balance is due at or before drop-off in order to commence boarding or the board & train program.

  • All deposits are non-refundable and treated as liquidated damages when forfeited.

Cancellations:

  • All deposits are non-refundable regardless of when cancellation occurs.

  • If canceled 14 days or more before the start date, any amounts paid beyond the deposit may be refunded.

  • No-show on the scheduled drop-off day: The deposit is forfeited, and the remaining balance may still be owed for the reserved dates.

Rescheduling:

  • Any rescheduling request after a deposit is collected is treated as a cancellation of the original reservation.

    • As a courtesy, minor date adjustments requested with reasonable notice may be accommodated based on availability.

      • If approved, the original deposit will transfer to the newly agreed dates.

      • Courtesy accommodations are not guaranteed.

Early pick ups or shortened stays:

  • Once any boarding period has begun, the reservation is considered “in use.” 

  • No refunds or partial refunds will be provided for early pickup, shortened stays, unused days or "in use" programs.

Clients who repeatedly cancel, reschedule or otherwise misuse any program policies may be required to pay full balance of service as a deposit for future services.

Service Modifications

We reserve the right to modify or cancel sessions due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., trainer illness, emergency, natural disaster, etc.). If we cancel, you may choose a refund for the missed session or credit or reschedule toward future training.

Non Transfer-ability & Session Expiration

All training sessions and packages purchased from Sonia's Pawsitive Dog Training are non-transferable. This means they may only be used by the original client and the dog(s) for whom the training was originally purchased. Sessions may not be gifted, sold, or reassigned to another individual or animal without express written permission.

Training Services:
  • All live in-person and virtual training sessions and credit packages must be used within six (6) months of the original purchase date.

  • After this period, any unused session credits will automatically expire and will not be eligible for a refund or credit.

  • Expired sessions cannot be reactivated, extended, or transferred.

Boarding, Daycare and, Board & Train Programs:
  • Reservations for boarding, daycare, or board & train are non-transferable and apply exclusively to the dog(s) listed on the original booking.

  • If a dog becomes unable to attend for any reason (behavioral, medical, or otherwise), the reservation is subject to the cancellation and deposit policies in effect at the time of booking.

  • Reservations must be commenced on the scheduled start date. If the client fails to show, attempts to substitute a different dog, or otherwise seeks to modify the assigned participant, the reservation will be treated according to the cancellation/no-show policy.

  • Early pickups or shortened stays do not extend future service credits and do not transfer to a different dog or booking.

Digital Courses & Online Subscriptions:

Access to prerecorded online training courses or digital content (including digital subscription plans) is also non-transferable and tied to the purchaser’s account.

These digital services:

  • Will expire according to the terms of the plan purchased, including any fixed course access duration, subscription cycles, or renewal terms shown at checkout.

  • May not be shared, redistributed, or re-sold.

  • Unauthorized use or access sharing is a violation of these terms and may result in immediate suspension of service.

 

We reserve the right to revoke access to digital services in the event of unauthorized sharing or misuse of any product.

Dispute Resolution

Exemptions or appeals may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of the trainer, and must be requested in writing. Any disputes regarding refunds or policy adherence will be resolved in compliance with California’s consumer protection laws.

Pet training involves living animals with their own personalities, instincts, and histories. While Sonia's Pawsitive Dog Training uses proven, science-based techniques, Positive Reinforcement, and makes every reasonable effort to help you and your pet succeed, we do not offer money-back guarantees for training outcomes.

Each pet learns at their own pace, and progress depends on many factors including: the pet’s health, temperament, age, history, environment, but MAINLY the consistency of handler practicing training and follow-through at home. Success requires a collaborative effort between trainer and especially owner.

By enrolling in training, you acknowledge that results are not guaranteed and agree that refunds will not be issued based on the pets response to training or your personal expectations of the outcome.
